mononews wants an icon, a badge or graphic design which will become the visual symbol for mononews, a Canadian lifestyle, arts and entertainment news distribution service. The search is on for the quintessential graphic that clearly and simply communicates mononews, an icon which represents the service and what is it all about.
The prize is $ 2,500 and the winning entry selected as the mononews icon will be featured, and the designer credited, on the mononews website. It will also be used in all communication and promotion of the mononews service.
The contest is open to artists and graphic designers who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the time of entry, professionals and students, whether involved in the industry or with an interest in graphics.
Entries will be judged according to the appeal and aesthetics of the design, as well as on how closely the graphic meets the criteria for representing mononews as per the information provided on the official contest website, www.iconifymononews.com. Contestants are also invited to visit our Facebook page, at www.facebook.com/mononews.eng.
Entries must be submitted through the entry form available on the contest website, in any of the following formats: .jpg, .jpeg .gif, .png.
The deadline for submissions is midnight, September 30th, 2011.
Five (5) icon designs will be chosen by a panel of senior executives from the marketing, advertising and communication industry in Canada including:
John Clinton, CEO, Edelman Canada, Marie-Josée Lamothe, Vice President, Chief Marketing and Corporate Communications Officer L’Oréal Canada, Kim Peacock, Publisher, Western Media Group Transcontinental Media, Robin Thornton, Managing Director of mononews and Richard Vincent, CEO and Creative Director of Kutoka Interactive.
The five (5) icons chosen by the judging panel will be posted for public voting on the Iconify mononews contest site. The winning icon will be the one garnering the highest number of votes. Voting will be open from October 15 through 30th.
The winner will be announced on November 8th, 2011 to celebrate the one year anniversary of the launch of mononews.
